Description
Equitable investments and programs
Justice40 was a federal initiative when we published the Climate Equity Plan. The program’s goal was to give 40% of climate investment benefits to communities that need it most. We uphold the goals of Justice40. We are focusing on helping underserved and vulnerable communities.
We will use the resources that we have and find new ones to:
- Better understand our most vulnerable communities and how climate change affects them
- Continue programs that center our environmental justice communities
- Advocate for policies that deepen support and investment in these vulnerable communities
What we’re doing now
The work under this strategy is diverse and will come in a variety of forms over the life of this plan. Right now, we’re:
- Tracking funding going into our environmental justice communities. As part of this work, we aim to exceed the Justice40 standard.
- Working with Hennepin County to study types of vulnerabilities across Minneapolis. We’ll use this to support the development of a resilience plan.
- Working through our Clean Energy Partnership with Xcel Energy and Centerpoint Energy. We seek to help our environmental justice communities get:
- More adequate resources
- Access to clean energy services and investments
- Resilient power delivery
