Minneapolis economy and workforce
The City has programs to help people who may not have easy access to jobs. We offer training, resources, and help finding jobs that pay well and are stable. Our goal is to create more jobs and lower unemployment, to help people and the whole community.
We help people explore, find and keep jobs. We have programs for:
- Low-income adults
- People who have lost their jobs
- Young people
- People who want to work in green jobs
We work with schools, community groups, and service providers to support job seekers and businesses.
Climate impact
To reach our Climate Equity goals, we need workers who are ready to build new green buildings. We also need people to take care of the buildings and energy systems. But right now, it’s hard to find and train workers. We need to act fast and make sure to include everyone in the community.
Equity impact
We want everyone to have a better future. That’s why we support the United Nations’ Just Transition Principles. These principles help guide us as we work toward a cleaner, low-carbon economy.
They make sure:
- No person is left out
- No worker is left out
- No community is left out
Climate change affects low-income people and People of Color the most. There’s a need for thousands of new, high-paying jobs to help fight climate change. This is a chance to make our community stronger. By creating these jobs, we can help people build wealth and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
