Description
Supporting job seekers
Some climate-related jobs have an older workforce with few new people starting. A Metropolitan Council report suggests that many workers may retire soon, which could lead to worker shortages. We need trained workers to keep these industries running.
Workforce development programs have two main goals:
- Help people find jobs
- Connect workers to the jobs that need them
Training job seekers who are not working right now helps both goals. We support the career goals of job seekers, whether they’re unemployed, underemployed, or looking for their first job. Through our network of community-based partners, we help residents by offering:
- Help getting ready for interviews
- Credentialed training
- Support in finding a job
What we’re doing now
Our programs focus on jobs that are growing fast and are in high demand. These jobs give people a chance to earn competitive wages and build strong careers. We want to transform our economy and provide family-sustaining wages. That’s why we are looking to opportunities in:
- Emerging green technologies
- Renewable energy
- Growing occupations in green careers
We partner with unions and trade programs to connect people to apprenticeships. Our goal is to connect people to good, meaningful careers.
