Description
Transportation plans
Several foundational plans guide how we select, develop, and implement transportation projects. These plans include:
- The Transportation Action Plan (TAP)
- Racial Equity Framework for Transportation
- Vision Zero Action Plan
- 20 Year Streets Funding Plan
- ADA Transition Plan
These plans support and integrate with each other. They also support other City plans like the Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan and the Climate Equity Plan. Together they seek to achieve transportation goals related to:
- Safety
- Accessibility and affordability
- Sustainability
- Emission reductions
- Equity
Each plan has clear goals, action steps, and ways to track progress. Regular updates of these plans occur to fix problems, add new ideas, and respond to changing needs. This ensures implementation of each plan in an integrated and equitable manner.
What we’re doing now
Adopted in 2020, the Transportation Action Plan (TAP) has passed the halfway point of its 10-year timeframe. We're updating the TAP to document the progress of its first five years and reflect updated planning work. Several other transportation plans have received recent updates, including:
- A 2023 update to the Vision Zero Action Plan
- A 2024 update to the ADA Transition Plan
- A 2025 update to the 20 Year Streets Funding Plan.
Some plans also include online mapping and data tools:
